Do you buy a Mothers’ Day gift for your mother-in-law?

March 23, 2011

Lisbeth Dahl Bracelet With Turquoise Stones

A couple of years ago, I told my husband that as far as gift-giving goes, he’s on his own. This came after one Christmas when I drove myself mad shopping for gifts for his side of the family while he obviously didn’t give them (or, for that matter, my side of the family) a second thought.

So, no, I won’t be buying a Mothers’ Day gift for my mother-in-law, but I know a lot of my friends will. Do you? Or do you leave it up to your husband? Or do you just not bother with Mothers’ Day at all? Let us know in the comments.

Mothers’ Day: 15% off – and a purse to keep the saved money in!

March 21, 2011

It’s Mothers’ Day on Sunday 3 April and we have a special offer: 15% off your next order. The offer is valid until midnight, Sunday 27 March. Just enter MUMSTW at checkout.

If I were you, my next order would be this Dandy Wallet from Disaster Designs. Along with a popper fastening with three zip compartments, a section for credit cards and other useful compartments inside, it has a pretty vintage postcard design with the inscription ‘Penny for your thoughts’ on the front. If you don’t buy it for yourself, buy it for your mum.

Antique Silver Tealight Holder for Mothers’ Day

March 16, 2011

I’m a bit wary of recommending household items for Mothers’ Day – puts me in mind of my dad buying my mum a microwave one Christmas – but no one could argue with this lovely antique silver tealight holder, surely?

It has a heart motif on either side, a distressed finish, and a wire handle for hanging if desired. Plus each one is slightly different due to the handmade process. Lovely.

Make your mum’s day with this Rue B bracelet

March 14, 2011

This Rue B triple strand black onyx, pearl and smokey quartz bracelet, with sterling silver clasp has a truly classic look for that special occasion.

It’s currently on special offer – £22 instead of £32 – and, like all purchases from Hampton Blue is dispatched wrapped in blue tissue paper or in a blue organza bag, with a Hampton Blue label attached.

A perfect way to make your mum’s Mothers’ Day.

Sparkly stocking fillers

December 15, 2010

It’s great to get a big Christmas gift, something you’ve been wanting all year, but it’s equally fun to have lots of little things to open. Here are a few of our favourites.

This gorgeous Lisbeth Dahl silver purse is embellished with stripes of silver sequins and glass beads on the front and glass beads on the back. It has a zip fastening and is lined with silver fabric and would be equally appreciated by tweens, teens or (alleged) grown-ups.

This embroidered butterfly heart mirror is one of those things that are so handy to have in your handbag, but which you probably never remember to buy for yourself.

This beautiful clear glass tealight holder with a metal handle with silver and clear bead detail is ideal for indoor or outdoor use. Perfect for adding a bit of atmosphere to Christmas evenings.

Last minute gift idea: Cupcake Candle Holders

December 8, 2010

Each Christmas, I try to have a few extra gifts in and wrapped just in case of unexpected visits (or expected visits with unexpected gifts) from friends.

I’d love to receive these cute Cupcake Candle Holders and I know most of my friends would too. They cost just £12.95.

Secret Santa gift ideas

December 6, 2010

The Secret Santa seems to be an office staple these days. No longer working in an office, I manage to avoid it, but my husband’s been asking me for Secret Santa tips and so I’ve picked out a few gifts, all costing under £10.

Metal Heart Wine Charms setThis set of 6 metal heart wine charms comes in a gift box and costs just £6.50. Use these on the stem of your wine glasses to add a little sparkle, but on a more practical note so that your guests can easily distinguish their glass from someone elses.

Lisbeth Dahl manicure setFor £9.50, how about this Lisbeth Dahl Manicure Set? The hard case is covered with a gorgeous ‘antique silver’ glitter fabric and is lined with pink suedette, while the set includes scissors, clippers, nail file, tweezers, cuticle pusher and cuticle clippers. It costs £9.50.

Boxed Corkscrew And Wine Stopper SetIf you’re unlucky enough to have picked the person who has everything, you could do a lot worse than this Boxed Corkscrew And Wine Stopper Set. The gift box contains an elegant silver corkscrew and wine stopper and it costs £8.50. Bargain.

Sparkle in the snow with these Lisbeth Dahl earrings

November 30, 2010

I’m trying to enjoy the snow, I really am. But it’s so… cold. And the traffic’s terrible. It does make everything look really pretty though.

As will these beautiful Lisbeth Dahl ‘Antique Silver’ drop earrings with clear crystals and a fastening at the back. Perfect for adding a little sparkle to an outfit, Christmas or otherwise.
