In the Press!

October 11, 2012

We would just like to take this opporunity to thank some of the national and local magazines and papers who have very kindly featured some of our products in their publications recently.  This kind of press coverage for a small, family run business like Hampton Blue is just priceless.

October’s issue of Prima magazine very kindly featured 0ur Wild and Wolf  Travel Card holder  in their Travel Notes Section.

Could it really be spring?

March 2, 2011

Spring! It’s here. Maybe. I mean, I don’t want to count my chickens, but the sun has been shining for two – two! – days in a row. There are crocuses (crocii?) and snowdrops in the garden. And yesterday I remember that soon there will be blossom. I love blossom.

So I looked for something spring-like to share with you and I found this lovely jewellery wrap. The colour is gorgeous, the little flower makes me smile and jewellery wraps are extremely handy and make great gifts. What more could you want?

Sparkly stocking fillers

December 15, 2010

It’s great to get a big Christmas gift, something you’ve been wanting all year, but it’s equally fun to have lots of little things to open. Here are a few of our favourites.

This gorgeous Lisbeth Dahl silver purse is embellished with stripes of silver sequins and glass beads on the front and glass beads on the back. It has a zip fastening and is lined with silver fabric and would be equally appreciated by tweens, teens or (alleged) grown-ups.

This embroidered butterfly heart mirror is one of those things that are so handy to have in your handbag, but which you probably never remember to buy for yourself.

This beautiful clear glass tealight holder with a metal handle with silver and clear bead detail is ideal for indoor or outdoor use. Perfect for adding a bit of atmosphere to Christmas evenings.

Make someone’s day with this make-up bag

September 27, 2010

I’m a complete sucker for things that look like old-fashioned stationery – I know that sounds a bit random, but there are actually quite a lot of products designed to look like old-fashioned stationery, you’d probably be surprised! – so I was bound to love this Dandy make-up bag from Disaster Designs.

The bag has a pretty vintage postcard design with the inscription ‘Make up for lost time’ on the front. With a popper and zip fastening, it’s perfect for storing all your makeup essentials. It would make a great gift, but I might just treat myself.

Top Three Things to Pack for Your Holidays

If, like me, you are already thinking about the summer holidays, remember that it is never too soon to start making a list of what to take.
Once you have noted down tickets, passport, money and toothbrush, it is time to skip on to the other essentials, and top of my list is a big scarf. It can cover you up on a chilly air conditioned plane, protect your shoulders from sunburn, and add style to an evening outfit. I’m going for the lovely white scarf with beads, right, as I know white will go with almost everything.

Next, I’m packing my holiday jewellery. Changing your accessories is a great way to make the most of a small holiday wardrobe. Pick something like the fabulous bangle, left, that will really make a statement. At £12 it isn’t too expensive to wear on the beach either!

  Nadia Minkoff Grey/Gold Brooch Purse

Nadia Minkoff Grey/Gold Brooch Purse £28.50

Finally, I need something to put my holiday makeup in. Choose a funky make up bag that will double up as an evening bag. I mentioned the Bobbypin make up bag the other week which works so well for this, or be daring and go for glam with a Nadia Minkoff purse. The purses come in a range of colours including claret, midnight blue, mulberry/gold or my own favourite, the grey/gold mix.

So, I’m set for some great and glam nights out on holiday – are you?

Top Three Things to Take on Honeymoon

May 10, 2010

If you’re off on Honeymoon soon, here are my top three recommendations for things to pack.

Plain Blue Cotton Scarf

Plain Blue Cotton Scarf

1. Don’t leave the country without a scarf or pashmina. I love this Blue Cotton scarf: it makes the ideal evening cover-up or can protect your shoulders on a hot day.

The blue makes me think of Mediterranean seas and skies – just right for your honeymoon.

  Bobbypin Primrose Makeup Bag

2. Pack a cute and funky make up bag.

I love this Bobbypin Primrose makeup bag with wrist strap and poppered fastening over the top from Disaster Designs. If space is tight in your suitcase, tip your make up out when you arrive and it will double up as a clutch bag.

3. Select a range of your favourite jewellery to glam up your outfits for going out each evening.

Have You Looked in Your Make Up Bag Recently?

April 28, 2010

When you buy a new lipstick do you just pop it in your make up bag along with a jumble of eyeshdows, liners and compacts dating back years?

According to the Daily Mail if you can see the last 15 years of your life, lipstick by lipstick, in your make up bag, you’re not alone. Women are ignoring the new labels on cosmetics and hanging on to them for years when they should be thrown out after a matter of months. Bacterial levels can reach danger point in cosmetics, and the Mail explains, “dirty brushes are a breeding ground for micro-organisms that can cause herpes, ringworm and impetigo, an infectious disease that results in blisters.”
Give your make up a clear out and reward yourself with a new make up bag from Bobby Pin, right. It’s so glam that you can double it up as a clutch bag. A real incentive to ensure that you only have fresh up-to-date cosmetics inside.

Bobbypin Make Up Bag: As Seen in Practical Parenting

January 20, 2010

Bobbypin thrift bagMy daughter would have loved one of these bags as a Christmas Gift: fortunately for her it is her birthday next month so there is another chance to buy the Bobbypin Thrift make up bag

UK parenting magazine Practical Parenting is featuring it in their current issue, so I better grab that birthday gift soon before it goes!

Practical Parenting says, “This gorgeous Bobbypin Thrift makeup bag, £10.50 from Hampton Blue (www.hamptonblue.co.uk) caught our eye in the PP office. And it’s the perfect excuse to get rid of your old manky makeup bag now it’s new year.”
